Integrating Evidenced Based Treatments and Recovery Approaches in Clinical Practice: How to Make Seemingly Incompatible Concepts Make Sense

The research opposing a "one size fits all" treatment approach has increased the variety of Substance Use Disorder programs. The new range of treatment options and recovery paths is a positive development within the field of addictions; however, there exist potential challenges associated with integrating different treatment approaches. This webinar will discuss these challenges, and will review how the shift towards the utilization of evidenced-based practices has led to a "buffet-style" of treatment.

What You Will Learn

  • Basic understanding of common evidenced-based treatments for substance use disorders and how such approaches are being utilized
  • Be able to identify some of the challenges, such as differences regarding what constitutes treatment and recovery
  • Acquire a basic understanding of how to integrate different approaches in practical ways to help bridge the gap between seemingly incompatible treatment and recovery approaches
