Gateway's Lake Villa Treatment Center is situated on a beautiful 43-acre campus on the shores of the Fox Lake. The peaceful location in the heart of Lake County offers individuals the opportunity to pursue sobriety amid the serenity of a countryside atmosphere.

The campus features a wide array of healthy lifestyle activities as well as an indoor gym with weights and cardio equipment.

Gateway's Lake County treatment center specializes in providing substance abuse education and group counseling to help you, or someone you love get life back on track. Our experienced team helps you understand substance abuse, guides you to recovery and supports you every step of the way.

The clinical team in Lake Villa is committed to understanding each person's unique needs and circumstances and developing a personalized treatment plan that's right for them. Our goal is to understand and treat the underlying causes of one's substance abuse, not just their addiction to drugs or alcohol.

Gateway's Lake Villa Treatment Center offers high school programs for adolescents through Antioch High School. Individuals have the opportunity to gain credits and improve academically during their substance abuse treatment.

Meet the Lake Villa Staff

Karen Wolownik Albert, LCSW, Executive Director, Gateway Lake Villa Karen Wolownik Albert, LCSW
Executive Director
Gateway Lake Villa

Karen Wolownik Albert is the Executive Director of Gateway Foundation's Lake County Treatment Services including a residential program in Lake Villa, and an outpatient program in Gurnee, Illinois. Ms. Wolownik Albert has over 20 years of behavioral health experience, and has worked in a variety of outpatient and residential settings throughout her career.

She earned her Bachelors of Science, and Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan, and is a licensed clinical social worker in Illinois. Ms. Wolownik Albert is an experienced trainer locally, and also presented at national conferences on a wide array of topics. She is on the Board of Directors of the Lake County Opioid Initiative, as well as a co-chair of the Treatment, Recovery and Harm Reduction Committee, and a core team member in the development of the A Way Out Program, a law assisted diversion program in Lake County.

Ms. Wolownik Albert is a member of the Lake County Underage Drinking and Drug Abuse Prevention Task Force and represented that organization at the national CADCA conference in 2017. She is also on the Steering Committee, and Treatment Committee Co-Chair for the Chicago Area Opioid Task Force. Additionally, Ms. Wolownik Albert is an adjunct professor at the College of Lake County, and has served on the curriculum committee for the Human Services program since 2011.

Christine De Vore, MA, CADC, MISA II
Family Therapist
Gateway Lake Villa

Family Therapist Christine De Vore has been a dedicated member of the clinical team at Gateway Lake Villa since 1995. To her, the most fulfilling aspects of her work are helping families communicate better and educating parents in the art of listening.

In her role, Christine works with families that have loved ones in Adolescent Residential Treatment Programs. She facilitates family counseling sessions, educates families about the disease of addiction and teaches family members coping skills to support their loved ones' recovery.

"I have always wanted to work with youth in the addiction field. I think youth provide the best opportunity for growth and change," says Christine.

Christine earned her Master's degree in Child, Family and Community from Sangamon State University in Springfield, IL.

Dianne Robinson, MSW, CRADC, MISA I
Clinical Supervisor
Gateway Lake Villa

Clinical Supervisor Dianne Robinson truly believes that everybody can change. She pursued her career in the substance abuse field to help people make the necessary changes to better their lives. "One of my favorite inspirational quotes is if you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change," says Dianne.

Dianne oversees treatment program activities, operations and delivery of quality care services for women in treatment at Gateway's Lake Villa center. She also facilitates group therapy to help women learn from each other and improve social skills to promote their positive growth and change.

Dianne has been a member of Gateway's clinical team since 2001.
