Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is a medical condition when your body and or mind becomes chemically dependent on a drug. Chemical dependency can occur on any type of drug including alcohol, illegal drugs or pharmaceutical drugs.
Studies show that having an alcohol or drug addiction alters the way the brain performs. These transformations of the brain cause the abuser to crave the drug beyond reason and beyond control.
These intense physical and mental cravings make it extremely difficult, if not impossible in most cases, for a drug addict to rehabilitate themselves without help. Professional drug rehab enables a drug addict to remove the chemicals from the body and the brain, giving both the chance to heal.
Effects drug addiction can cause to mental health include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Paranoia
- Rage in all forms: physical, verbal, emotional, psychological
- Diminished physical and verbal capacity
- Difficulties in problem-solving
- Anti-social behavior
- Inability to control emotions
- Inability to be responsible
- Careless endangerment of themselves or others
