Sally Thoren, BA, CADC
Executive Director, Chicago West
Sally Thoren believes her job as Executive Director of Gateway's Chicago West Residential Center is "restoring hope." Sally started with Gateway in 1983 as a college intern and joined Gateway as a full-time employee after college graduation. Sally holds a BA in political science and studied law at DePaul University in Chicago.
Sally cites the joy of restoring hope and serving the mission as reasons why she has been with Gateway for her entire career. Sally directly manages the residential services in Chicago, overseeing all aspects of staff management, development and promoting individual recovery. She helps build community relationships by interacting with local politicians, as well as numerous civic organizations.
When she's not overseeing a staff of 85, Sally enjoys watching movies with her two teenage sons, her big dog and two rabbits; as well as gardening and baking.
