Located only four miles from downtown, our Chicago-West Treatment Center provides affordable and effective Residential Programs and Day Treatment Programs for adults and adolescents seeking substance abuse treatment.

Conveniently located near the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290), Chicago-West also is easily accessible via public transportation.

Our Chicago West center specializes in providing substance abuse education and group counseling to help you, or someone you love get life back on track. Our experienced team helps you understand substance abuse, guides you to recovery and supports you every step of the way.

Meet the Chicago West Staff

Sally Thoren, BA, CADC
Executive Director
Gateway Chicago West

Sally ThorenSally Thoren believes her job as Executive Director of Gateway's Chicago West Center is "restoring hope." Sally started with Gateway in 1983 as a college intern and joined Gateway as a full-time employee after college graduation. Sally holds a BA in political science and studied law at DePaul University in Chicago.

Sally cites the joy of restoring hope and serving the mission as reasons why she has been with Gateway for her entire career. Sally directly manages the treatment services in Chicago, overseeing all aspects of staff management, development and promoting individual recovery. She helps build community relationships by interacting with local politicians, as well as numerous civic organizations.

When she's not overseeing a staff of 85, Sally enjoys watching movies with her two teenage sons, her big dog and two rabbits; as well as gardening and baking.

 

Megan Fisher, MHS, CADC
Counselor
Gateway Chicago West

"What often seem to be little acts of kindness and understanding on my part are time and again meaningful interactions for men who are aching for a bit of hope in their lives," explains Megan Fisher.

As a Counselor for Adult Men's Residential Treatment Programs at the Chicago West center, Megan collaborates with an interdisciplinary team on individualized treatment planning, provides individual and group therapy and helps families work through issues caused by their loved ones' addiction issues.

Megan joined the clinical team in 2012. She earned her Master's degree in Health Science in Addictions Studies from Governors State University in University Park, IL.

 

Paul Getzendanner, JD, LCSW, CADC
Program Director
Gateway Chicago West

Program Director Paul Getzendanner believes in evidence-based, individualized approaches to addiction treatment. "Treatment plans should respond to each person's unique needs and individuals should not be forced into a 'one-size-fits-all' treatment scheme," explains Paul.

Paul oversees treatment services for the Men's Residential and Adult Outpatient Programs at Gateway Chicago West. He leads the day-to-day operations and staff while providing clinical guidance and support to the clinical professionals.

Paul received his M.S.W. from Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work, his Law Degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.

 

Enrio Rigolin, M.D.
Board Certified Psychiatrist
Gateway Chicago West

Dr. Enrio Rigolin, a Board Certified Psychiatrist, enjoys being part of the team at Gateway because he is surrounded by serious, thoughtful and dedicated professionals. Dr. Rigolin brings more than 50 years of clinical experience to Gateway Chicago West. He provides psychiatric diagnostic evaluations and dual diagnosis treatment to those in treatment at the Chicago West Center.

Dr. Rigolin finds it gratifying to see patients achieve recovery. "I have had numerous gratifying experiences here at Gateway, such as observing patients who arrive disheartened and gradually transform into lively, joyful human beings."

Dr. Rigolin is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Northwestern Medical School in Chicago and a Distinguished Life Member of the American Psychiatric Association. He earned his medical degree from Escola Paulista de Medicina, Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1960. Dr. Rigolin is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Adult Residential (Separate Male and Female)
We address the unique needs of men and women through separate counseling and therapy approaches. Our programs offer over-night accommodations when you need around-the-clock support.

Located just west of downtown near major expressways and rapid transit, our center is close to where you live and work. Our morning and evening schedules are convenient for working adults.
