Gateway Foundation discusses risks of K2 with WFLD-TV FOX News Chicago
CHICAGO, January 20, 2012
There has been a lot of chatter about synthetic drugs lately. In Illinois, synthetic marijuana K2 was recently banned from retail store shelves. Despite the effort to make it more difficult to obtain, K2 use is on the rise and so are calls to poison control centers in regards to its dangerous side effects.
The obvious reasons for the increase in synthetic drug use are drug tests don't check for them, they can be purchased online and they are not illegal to possess - so they seem fairly innocuous. However, health care professionals, such as staff at hospital emergency rooms and substance abuse treatment centers, see first-hand individuals who overdose or become addicted from use of synthetic drugs like K2.
Gateway Foundation President and CEO Michael Darcy was featured on FOX News Chicago to answer questions about K2 and warn of its health risks. To learn more, please click here.
